What is a mini retreat?

This online mini-retreat is a three hour event that takes place in the comfort of your own home. The first 90 minutes will be focused on welcoming, getting comfortable in the body, and releasing tension. The second 90 minutes will be centered around connecting with the subtle energy body through meditation and mindful reflection.

Please watch the video to help you prepare.

How should you prepare?

  • Set boundaries. Tell your family members and housemates that you're doing this retreat and you need 3 hours of time to yourself.

  • Set the tone for relaxation by setting up your space (lower the lights, burn some candles, essential oils, incense, etc.)

  • Gather yoga props. You will need at least 3 pillows and 2 blankets for our restorative class. Couch cushions make great bolsters!

  • Download & print your Retreat Workbook and Affirmation Cards. These can be found in the retreat hub section titled "retreat resources."

  • Press Play on the video in the next module. ▶️

Your retreat journey looks like...

  • Restorative Yoga

A very relaxing type of yoga meant to clam, still, and relax the body. There is very little emphasis put on 'stretching' or 'achieving' and more focus on relieving muscle tension and allowing our props to support us and make us feel comforted and held.

  • Sound Healing

Narek from Music of Wisdom has agreed to share his recording with us of a sound healing track. I will guide us gently into an awareness state of meditation and help you stay focused throughout the sound healing session.

  • Guided Meditation

Toward the end of the sound healing session, I will guide us back with some gentle prompting and guided meditation on embracing the turn of seasons, honoring your worth, and ending with a few minutes of journaling and reflection.

  • Emphasis on Ceremony

My life partner and certified Shaman, Tom Durrant, will be guiding us in our Opening and Closing ceremonies. This will bring more of our "retreat vibe" into the present moment and bring closure to our retreat in a ceremonious fashion.

FAQ

  • Will there be breaks?

Yes, there will be at least one scheduled break during the retreat.

  • What if I can't stay the whole time?

That's okay! You're welcome to come in for any amount of time you are able to. Take what you need and stay for what you're able to.

  • Will there be a replay?

Most of the retreat will be available for replay. The reflection part at the end will be edited out to preserve the integrity of those attending live. Participants will be encouraged to share thoughts, feelings, and ideas during the final reflection and I want to keep that space sacred.

  • Do I have to keep my camera on?

No. You do not have to keep your camera on. This is a personal choice. Some people like to keep it on because it helps to hold them accountable. Others prefer their privacy. Whether you choose to keep your camera on or off the entire time, or turn it on for small portions of the session, is entirely up to you. You do you. There is no judgement or expectation on my end.

  • What if I have an injury? Can I even do this?

My suggestion for you here is to listen to your body. The type of yoga we are doing is very gentle and will not likely aggravate any injuries you have. However, I do not know the specifics of your injury or your body type, so it's important to remain aware of how the poses affect you.

If you feel physical pain or discomfort at any time, please, stop doing that pose or activity. Slowly back out of it the way you came into it, and try an alternative posture. I will be offering modifications and alternative poses throughout the class so you will have a variety of options available to you.

  • What if I have more questions?
